Extra trip no worries for Miss Famous

Sep 09, 2014

The longer trip to Tatura reaped a perfect result for Shane Stockdale Racing when Miss Famous scored a strong win in the Italian Plate Rating 58 Handicap (1100m).

Traralgon was scheduled to host the meeting but Racing Victoria transferred the program to Tatura, which left Stockdale to cover an extra 100 kilometres to get Miss Famous to the races.

Miss Famous showed a win was near when she resumed with a solid third on the Geelong Synthetic track before returning to the turf for her Tatura assignment.

Stockdale booked apprentice Aaron Mitchell to ride Miss Famous and the youngster did a terrific job to rate the mare perfectly.

A smart beginning left Mitchell with the option of taking Miss Famous to the front and the jockey was able to control the race.

The runner-up Military challenged Miss Famous early in the straight but the four-year-old produced a strong finishing effort under Mitchell’s riding to get home by a long neck.

Miss Famous took her earnings to more than $10,700, which surpassed the $NZ8000 Stockdale paid for the daughter of Fast ‘N’ Famous at Karaka in New Zealand.

The purchase price was a steal for a yearling out of a stakes-winning dam Madison Gray, who has already produced the Brisbane winner Grayson Square.

Congratulations to Miss Famous’s owners and all involved with her terrific win.
